The Shim Sham Shimmy has quickly become one of the best DJ nights in the Hudson Valley. DJs Pete Pop and Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus bring the noise on the first Saturday of the month.
However, in November, the Shim Sham Shimmy took place on the second Saturday, the 9th, since host Pete Pop had a more pressing (ie, more money) event to deal with on the first Saturday! So, there we were, the night after the Do The 45 in Beacon, we were blasting away at the Salt Box in Kingston!

It doesn’t really matter when the Shim Sham Shimmy takes place (hmmm… it’ll most likely be the second Saturday in December, too!) it is always a good time. Pete Pop and the Phast One bring their bossest records—mostly from the fifties and early sixties: R&B; Doo Wop, rockabilly, Rock’n’Roll, rockin’ blues, tuff instrumentals, et al. They bring the records and trade off playing three records at a time; Miss Nancy brings some snacks; guests bring their dancing shoes and the party goes on until about three in the morning.
