
In September, The Shim Sham Shimmy returned to it’s proper schedule on the 6th—the first Saturday of the month at the Salt Box. The menu for the Shim usually calls for a heavy dose of rockin’ blues, R&B, doo wop, rockabilly, Rock’n’Roll, surf instrumentals and mostly pre-British Invasion sounds. However, a few days before the gig, host DJ Pete Pop called his forever-guest DJ Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus to announce he wanted to add some garage records into the mix.


Woooo… geee!! Back to the drawing board! However, instead of just pulling some boss garage rock records out of his collection to spice up the night, The Phast One added white folks doing R&B songs from the sixties—or songs that sounded like that. Pete and Phast alternated playing five song sets all night. Just to trip up Mr. Pop, Phast presented a set of ska rekkids. You can dig it all in the list of records he played below:
